XAT 2013 ANALYSIS AND CUT-OFF

XAT is the probably the second most important exam for management entrances. If not for anything other thing, the fact that XLRI takes XAT scores for its selection criteria makes it the No 2 exam to be cracked.

XAT 2011 and XAT 2012 shocked the wits out of students with differential marking as well as the difficulty level of the exams themselves. XAT 2013, in that light, would have been a welcome change for all students who have written this exam today on the 6th of Jan.

In fact, the very fact that there is no differential marking would have been a sigh of relief for students.

The paper was a mix of relatively easy to quite difficult questions. But a careful observation of the same reveals that XAT remains as ingenious and inscrutable as it has always been.

Overall Cutoff

XLRI has two programs, the HRM and the BM program. The HRM program typically has a lower cutoff than the BM program.

There is a high likelihood that Interview calls will be given as per the scores in the above three sections only. The Genereal Awareness and Essay part will be evaluated post the Interview Calls. This also means that all other institutes which take the XAT scores for their written test portion of selection will only take the scores from these three sections and the overall scores from these three sections.

Expected Overall Cutoff for XLRI (HRM)       -  35

Expected Overall Cutoff for XLRI (BM)          -  38

Expected cutoff for XIM Bhubaneshwar        -  33

XAT 2010 Analysis and Cut Off

XAT is the second important exam after CAT for  MBA admissions. It sometimes becomes more challenging than CAT because there are more questions to be handled in less time. Further in XAT  first few wrong questions in each section are penalized less and later questions have higher penalty . As such you have to be careful while taking your chances.

XAT this year was a slightly more challenging than last year from level of difficulty of questions. But there was some relief in negative marking. The negative marking was 20% for initial 5 wrong answers compared to last  25% for first 6 in XAT 2009 and then penalty of  25% penalty compared to 50% in XAT 2009 for wrong answers

In summary the there were three section in paper with multiple choice questions of 5 options and with 1 mark per question and progressive negative marking as under
